In Marceline, Missouri, the boyhood home of Walt Disney, you can find a unique slice of theme park history. Tucked away here is the Midget Autopia, the only original Disney ride installed outside of a park.
After being removed from Disneyland in 1966 to make space for the iconic “it’s a small world,” Walt donated the ride to his beloved hometown. For about ten years, the winding concrete track and its little yellow shed welcomed visitors. Unfortunately, the tiny cars eventually wore out and needed extensive repair, so the town was forced to stop operating the Midget Autopia on a daily basis.
